Canon EF lens adapter with remote control of focus and aperture
Modern high-speed cameras such as the AOS S-PRI or the Photron Mini-series employ large sensors with diagonal dimension of 22 mm or more. Used with such cameras, standard C-mount lenses for 1” sensors with 16mm diagonal causes vignetting, ie dark corners of the image.
Nikon SLR lenses and compatible F-mount lenses designed for full frame (46mm diameter) or APS-C format (28mm diagonal) are commonly for these large sensors. Nikon lenses, however, are designed with mechanical focus and aperture control, driven by motors inside the camera body. On a high-speed camera, only manual focus and aperture control are available.
Canon EF lenses for the EOS cameras are designed with built-in motors that can be controlled externally. The EF lens remote controller allows external control of aperture and focus over an Ethernet connection with up to 80m cable length. Focus and aperture are set from a simple control panel software, using arrow keys for precise single stepping of the focus and aperture motors.
