Photron Fastcam SA-Z
Redefining High-Speed Imaning Performance
The introduction of Photron's new FASTCAM SA-Z ultra-high speed camera system redefines standards for high speed digital camera performance. FASTCAM SA-Z is the world's fastest 1 megapixel high speed camera providing a recording rate of 21,500 frames per second (fps) at 1k image resolution and frame rates of over 2 million frames per second at reduced resolution.
Photron FASTCAM SA-Z offers scientists, researchers and engineers the ability to capture high resolution digital images at ultra-high speeds to see and understand previously invisible processes and events. Utilizing Photron's proprietary CMOS image sensor technology, FASTCAM SA-Z combines high recording rates with an market-leading light sensitivity of ISO 50.000 (mono) and ISO 20.000 colour with excellent high image quality to provide the most versatile ultra-high speed digital camera available.
Available in 12-bit monochrome or 36-bit color versions with recording memory options from 8GB to 64GB FASTCAM, SA-Z offers versatility of use in a wide range of scientific and industrial applications.
Rugged, sealed camera electronicsAn innovative camera body design exploiting heat-pipe technology provides a thermally stable and reliable imaging system suitable for use in the most challenging environments. The camera electronics is completely sealed, allowing operation in dusty and humid enviromnents.
Standard operational features of the FASTCAM SA-Z include a mechanical shutter to allow remote system calibration, dual channel Gigabit Ethernet interface for fast image download, internal SD memory card drives, memory segmentation to allow recording in one memory partition while at the same time downloading a previous recording and the ability to remotely switch off cooling fans to eliminate vibration when recording at high magnifications.
1 Gigabyte/second download optionTwo SD card slots built into the rear of the camera allow for the download of recorded image data from the camera without the need for a PC connection. The new FASTdrive SSD option will download images from camera memory at a blazing fast rate of 1 Gigabyte/second, emptying the full 64 Gigabyte camera memory in just over a minute. The SSD data is transferred to the PC by an USB3 connection.
Software and SDK's for LabView and Matlab includedThe system is supplied with intuitive Photron FASTCAM Viewer (PFV) software and Photron Device Control SDK (software development kit) allowing integration with user specific software. Wrappers for both LabVIEW™ and MATLAB™ are available with PFV, as is the automated motion analysis plug-in software - Photron FASTCAM Analysis (PFA).
Other features include an image trigger to automatically trigger the camera when motion is detected within the field of view, compatibility with a National Instruments™ USB data acquisition (DAQ) module, support for AVI, WMV and MOV video formats directly from the camera, and support for TIFF, PNG, JPEG and Bitmap image formats.
