Compact and Versatile High Performance Camera System
The FASTCAM NOVA brings together unique CMOS image sensor technologies and extensive high-speed digital imaging expertise to provide a camera with the flexibility to be used in a wide variety of industrial, scientific and defense applications. The FASTCAM NOVA cameras are rugged, compact and have the best light sensitivity in its class.
16000 fps at 1 Megapixel
The FASTCAM NOVA is available in four different models offering 12-bit image recording with frame rate up to 16,000 frames per second (fps) at 1024x1024 image resolution and shutter speeds to less than 200ns. Frame rates up to 1.200.000 fps are available at reduced image resolutions The FASTCAM NOVA delivers the performance required for very demanding industrial, military and laboratory applications.
The NOVA also features a “sealed body” design that prevents dust and corrosive particles from contaminating sensitive electronics. An optional FASTDrive SSD can be used for the download of images at up to 1GB per second.
Unmatched light sensitivity
With light sensitivity of ISO 64,000 monochrome and ISO 16,000 color (using the ISO 12232 Ssat standard), the FASTCAM NOVA has better sensitivity than most, if not all other high-end high-speed cameras, only matched by the Photron Fastcam SA-Z. Higher light sensitivity means that less additional lighting is required to capture a high-speed event. It also means that faster frame rates, shorter shutter speeds and greater depths of field are provided under equivalent lighting conditions.Compatible with C-mount, Nikon G and Canon EF lenses
The FASTCAM NOVA uses an advanced CMOS image sensor optimized for light sensitivity and high image quality that is unique to Photron. A 20-micron pixel pitch gives a sensor size at full image resolution of 20.48 x 20.48mm (diagonal 28.96mm).
At full image resolution, the image sensor size is compatible with readily available 4/3” C mount lenses. In addition, the camera is supplied with a Nikon F mount lens fitting
fully compatible with G type Nikon DSLR objectives.
An optional lens mount supporting Canon EF lenses is available for the FASTCAM NOVA providing remote control of lens focus and iris through Photron PFV software.
Software and SDK's for LabView and Matlab included
The system is supplied with intuitive Photron FASTCAM Viewer (PFV) software and Photron Device Control SDK (software development kit) allowing integration with user specific software. Wrappers for both LabVIEW™ and MATLAB™ are available with PFV, as is the automated motion analysis plug-in software - Photron FASTCAM Analysis (PFA).Other features include an image trigger to automatically trigger the camera when motion is detected within the field of view, compatibility with a National Instruments™ USB data acquisition (DAQ) module, support for AVI, WMV and MOV video formats directly from the camera, and support for TIFF, PNG, JPEG and Bitmap image formats.
