Modern high-speed cameras such as the AOS S-PRI or Q-PRI series employ large sensors with diagonal dimension of 22 mm or more. Used with such cameras, standard C-mount lenses for 1” sensors causes vignetting, ie dark corners of the image.

Nikon SLR lenses and compatible lenses from Sigma, Tamron or Tokina are ideal low-cost alternatives for such cameras, giving uniform illumination across the entire sensor.

However, lenses with a manual iris adjustment ring are becoming increasingly difficult to get. Most of the SLR lenses currently manufactured rely on camera-specific mechanical or motorized iris control through the camera body and cannot be adjusted manually.

The AOS CMT lens adapter has a built-in iris adjustment to set the aperture to any F-number in its range on lenses without iris adjustment ring. The CMT adapter can be used on any C-mount camera with most SLR and DSLR lenses with Nikon F-mount.
