The new Fastcam BC2 high-definition, high speed video camera has been announced by Photron and will be shown at the NAB show in Las Vegas in April 2010. Designed specifically for television broadcast, commercials and motion picture production, the BC2 provides high quality, full 1080 HD video at 2000 frames/second, ideal for television broadcast, commercials, sports OB, and big-screen applications.
With a 12-bit dynamic range and 2000 × 2000-pixel resolution at 1000 fps, the artifact-free electronically cooled CMOS sensor provides resolution of 1920 × 1080 at up to 2000 fps and reduced resolution at more than 86,000 fps. The camera is compatible with the Sony HDVF-C30WR HD viewfinder and with PL, B4 and Nikon F-mount lenses, making it easy to interface with new or existing broadcast equipment.
It features instant playback via the dual HD-SDI outputs on the back panel, a 2.76-µs shutter and low noise. Camera control is via the on-camera button, the RS-422 port (also used by the remote control keypad) or the RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet interface. Videos recorded using proprietary Fastcam Viewer software will automatically replay at the user-selected speed via the HD-SDI outputs or can be downloaded via Gigabit-Ethernet for later viewing.
