Mengel Engineering can now offer the Photofluor II high-intensity light source for microscopy, high speed boroscopy and other applications requiring much higher brightness than available from halogen light sources.
The Photofluor II features a 200W dc-stabilized metal-halide lamp with high output brightness across the 340 to 650 nm range. It allows bright imaging of DAPI, Hoechst, and other UV-absorbing fluorochromes, as well as those with higher excitation wavelengths such as Cy5. A computer-controlled filter/attenuator wheel with free slots for custom excitation filters allows fast switching between bands.
The highly stable, dc-regulated output makes the Photofluor ideal for high-speed video microscopy with high frame rates or very short shutter times.
The light is delivered through a liquid light guide with high transmission over the full wavelength band, giving complete isolation of the microscope against vibration and heat.
Adapters are available for the major epi-fluorescence microscope brands. Mengel Engineering also supplies mounted single, dual and triple band fluorescence filter sets from our US supplier Chroma Technology.
